Vision and Mission Statement of Joey's Img2Img Group; Purely Voluntary ERAS/Medical Residency Forum
Vision Statement:
Our main objective is to assist and guide International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in their pursuit of a medical residency program in the United States.
Our goal is to ensure that IMGs not only succeed in securing a residency program but also thrive in it, becoming the best version of themselves.
Our team of dedicated residents and attendings are equipped with the necessary knowledge and expertise to navigate the process of residency applications, interviews, and matching.
Mission Statement:
Aligned with our vision, we facilitate interactive weekly sessions that engage mentors and foster insightful discussions on navigating the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application process and interviews.
Additionally, we leverage our network of qualified professionals and assign IMGs to mentors in their desired specialty to ensure a personalized and tailored approach that caters to their unique needs.
Our mission is to provide IMGs with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to optimize their chances of success.

“Joey’s Img2Img group” is currently operational on WhatsApp and Telegram.
The idea was created in 2015 during Dr. Joey’s PGY-1 year as a psychiatry intern with the aim of helping IMGs, mostly of Black/African descent get into the US medical residency/fellowship training.
We are a dynamic group and growing: Currently have 800+ members. One way we do this is by pairing applicants up with volunteer mentors (our definition include US medical trainees starting from PGY1+).
Following the match week every month of March, we dedicate the month of March-April to rejoice/take stalk and then start reviewing applicants’ CV, SoP and LoR prior to submission (May-July) as well as help applicants adequately prepare/practice or up their interview skills etc (Sept - February).
We also provide guidance on writing: Letter of Interest” “Thank you notes”, “Letter of Intent” during the interview season and Ranking(s) etc.”
Other things include leveraging on current residents/fellows as well as attendings that are open to giving back.
